Committees

Taste of Jackson & Business Showcase (meets as needed) - The Annual Taste of Jackson & Business Showcase is the networking event of the year! Participants are given an opportunity to showcase their business to the community. Committee members are asked to solicit booth reservations from Chamber members. Booths are secured by businesses and caterers.

Annual Awards Banquet (meets as needed) - The Annual Awards Banquet Committee works closely with the Chamber Chairman to determine a location, caterer, etc. to make this event memorable for the award recipents as well as guests.

Education (meets at 8:00 AM, 2nd Wednesday) - To provide support for the school systems and for the educational programs in Jackson County.

  • Partners in Education: To administer and assist in maintaining the relationships between the business community and the schools within the county and cities to enhance and expand the educational opportunities for all students.
  • CHOICES: The Choices profram is a series of classes taught (by Volunteers) to 8th grade students in all 3 school systems. The purpose of the class is to emphasize the importance of good choices.
  • STAR and Teacher of the Year Reception: To recognize and honor the STAR students and techers in the county and the Teachers of the Year in each school.

Women In Business (meets at noon, 3rd Wednesday) - Recognition of women's positive influence in Jackson County through dedication, service, and diversity.

Leadership Jackson County - The purpose of Leadership Jackson County is to identify, prepare, and educate future Jackson County leaders from a broad cross section of citizens, The objectives of this program are to form common bonds between current and future leaders, form common understandings of issues and assets of Jackson County, and develop the leaders who will propel Jackson County in the future. Leadership Jackson County applicants are nominated, complete an application process, and are selected by the Leadership Jackson County Steering Committee. Tuition covers all programs, meals, retreat and graduation recognition.

Governmental Affairs - This group meets while the general assembly is in session. They serve to research, monitor and educate Chamber members on the governmental issues that affect the membership and the community. They communicate the Chamber's position on key issues in legislation that affect the business community.

Tourism Development Council "TDC" (meets 4th Tuesday) - The mission of the TDC is to develop and nurture sustainable tourism for economic prosperity and enhance the image of our community.   This group has developed several projects such as a Antiques Trail brochure/rack card; a inventory list of tourism related products in Jackson County; a community calendar and is working on creating a Community Festivals Brochure.

Small Business Development Group:  This group meets as needed to plan and execute the Small Business Lunch and Learn educational seminars that are held throughout the year.
