RIBBON CUTTING:   Mama's Country Buffet - will have a ribbon cutting on Thursday, May 15th at 2:00pm.   Come by and have lunch and celebrate this new chamber member!   Mama's Country Buffet is located at 834 Gordon Street in JEfferson.   

GRAND OPENING:   Keller Williams Lanier Partners -  will be celebrating on Thurs. May 15th the Grand Opening of their new office in Braselton located at 1215 Tuscany Dr. Ste C from 4 - 7pm.  There will be food, fun and drawings for several door prizes.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME OUT IN SUPPORT OF STAFF SGT. SHAUN WHITEHEAD last weekend as his body was laid to rest. 
An account has been set up for his family at Community Bank & Trust.  If you would like to make a contribution, make checks to the Staff Sgt. Shaun Whitehead Benefit Account and drop it at any Community Bank & Trust.

The Jackson County High School HOSA Chapter (Health Occupations Students of America) are going to Dallas on June 18th for a leadership conference.  They are in need of financial support to make this trip happen.  Any donations are tax deductible and a donation of $150 or more will be recognized with a plaque.  The cost per student is $900.  Call Elaine Walker, HOSA Advisor for more details 706/367-2341.

The Commerce Downtown Development Authority - Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.  the Commerce Downtown Development Authority and the Grass Roots Arts Program are hosting a spring entertainment series entitled, FRIDAYS AFTER FIVE.  All events occur at Spencer Park in Historic Downtown Commerce.  All events are FREE.  Concessions will be available.  Friday, May 9th, 6:30pm - Concert in the Park featuring "Boss Laura and Jimmy T" (Classic/Southern Rock)   Friday, May 23rd, 6:30pm - Concert in the Park featuring " Curly Maple" (Bluegrass/ Americana/Folk)  Friday, June 6th, starts at dusk -Movie in the Park featuring "Surf's Up".  Call 706/335-2954 for more information.

GEORGIA AGRIBUSINESS COUNCIL - announces the formation of a new series of leadership luncheons that will begin in May.  The inaugural GAC Horizon Series Luncheon will be on Monday, May19th at The Commerce Club in Atlanta, with US Senator Saxby Chambliss as the kick-off speaker.  Registration will begin at 11:45am and will adjourn at 1:00pm.  Advanced registration is due by Thurs, May 15th and needs to be sent to Christy Page at cpage(at)ga-agribusiness.org or fax 706/336-6898.  Advance tickets are $35 or $45 at the door.  Reserved tables of 8 available.  Dress in business attire.
