Committees

BOARD OF DIRECTORS (meets 3rd Friday)- The Board is an elected group that review's Chamber's Program of Work, monitors financial condition of the Chamber, and takes action on items of interest.  The Board also supports and promotes all the Chamber's events and programs.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE (meets at 8:00 AM, 2nd Wednesday at the Chamber) - Open to the community, the Education Committee serves multiple facilitation roles in the Jackson County community for education/business and human services sectors, for an improving quality of life, for all citizens by providing the tools to be ready for school, work, or life.  This committee hosts the annual PIE Workshop and STAR and Teacher of the Year Reception; serves as the CTAE Advisory Board and provides an active Speakers List as a resource for Teachers in the classroom.

  • Partners in Education: To administer and assist in maintaining the relationships between the business community and the schools within the county and cities to enhance and expand the educational opportunities for all students.

  • STAR and Teacher of the Year Reception: To recognize and honor the STAR students and techers in the county and the Teachers of the Year in each school.

LEGISLATIVE RELATIONS COMMITTEE - This committee prepares legislative policies and reports for the Board of Directors; keeps abreast of local, state, and federal legislation and encourages that which is pro-business and conducive to economic and community development by being pro-active and taking positions.

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL(TDC meets at 3:30pm, 4th Tuesday at the Chamber) - The TDC hosts monthly meetings to discuss and plan tourism related activites for Jackson County and to develop a strategic plan for tourism.  These members also represent Jackson County at Tourism conferences and clinics.  They also maintain a database of tourism inventory and maintain Jackson County's Camera Ready certification.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS (meets at noon, 3rd Wednesday at Hope Crossings Church of God) - The committee hosts monthly meetings for the purpose of increasing the professional and personal development of women, and encouraging participation and recognition of women in the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce.  They also host the annual Woman of the Year Luncheon. 

LEADERSHIP JACKSON - The purpose of Leadership Jackson County is to identify, prepare, and educate future Jackson County leaders from a broad cross section of citizens, The objectives of this program are to form common bonds between current and future leaders, form common understandings of issues and assets of Jackson County, and develop the leaders who will propel Jackson County in the future. Leadership Jackson County applicants are nominated, complete an application process, and are selected by the Leadership Jackson County Steering Committee. Tuition covers all programs, meals, retreat and graduation recognition.
