Committees

Members on this committee serve as a representative of the Chamber of Commerce. The goal is to serve and support the members of the chamber, welcome guests and new members and help make connections at events. Committee members are active in attending ribbon cuttings and chamber events. This committee meets monthly.

Members of this committee study and analyze issues of interest to Jackson County and its business community and take advocacy positions on those issues. Members of this committee communicate the chamber's viewpoints clearly and strongly to our membership, elected officials and the community at-large.  Annually, the committee plans and executes the Eggs & Issues Business and Breakfast event and/or a Legislative Forum, during which our members may hear from and interact with our Legislative Delegation. This committee meets as needed.

The goal of the Small Business Development Committee is to promote and educate small businesses in Jackson County. This group hosts the Small Business Lunch & Learns once a month. Programming for the monthly Lunch & Learns are driven by this committee. This committee meets monthly.

The Education Committee is open to all chamber members. This committee provides support for the school systems, technical schools, and for many other educational programs in Jackson County. This committee meets once a month.

Events planned through the Education Committee:

Partners in Education (PIE) Workshop: To administer and assist in maintaining the relationships between the business community and the schools within the county to enhance and expand the educational opportunities for all students.

STAR Student, Teacher and Teacher of the Year Reception: To recognize and honor the STAR students and teachers in the county and the Teachers of the Year in each school.

Women in Business exists for the purpose of increasing the professional and personal development of women and encouraging participation and recognition of women in the Jackson County Area Chamber of Commerce. This committee hosts the Women in Business Luncheons once a month. Programming for the luncheons is driven by this committee. This committee meets monthly.

Events planned through the Women in Business Committee:

Woman of the Year Annual Luncheon: The Annual Woman of the Year luncheon celebrates the hardworking and successful women throughout Jackson County. It recognizes the truly inspiring women who make a difference in our community, excel in their professional lives and make the time to mentor others. The Woman of the Year Award honors the individuals who have achieved professional excellence, mentored, actively served the community and helped other women to reach their leadership potential.

The Purpose of Leadership Jackson is to identify, prepare and educate future Jackson County leaders from a broad cross section of citizens. Leadership Jackson applicants are nominated, complete an application process and are selected by the Leadership Jackson Advisory Council. Members of this board are alumni of Leadership Jackson and elected by their peers and appointed by the board. This is the only avenue for serving on this council.
